Sweet Tooth trailer: Get an epic look at Netflix’s comic book adaptation

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Get ready for a post-apocalyptic adventure unlike you've ever seen because the first trailer for Netflix's Sweet Tooth has finally arrived! The eight-episode series will globally premiere on Netflix on June 4, and it looks like it's going to be one heck of a ride.

Per Netflix, here is the official plot synopsis for Sweet Tooth:

Ten years ago “The Great Crumble” wreaked havoc on the world and led to the mysterious emergence of hybrids — babies born part human, part animal. Unsure if hybrids are the cause or result of the virus, many humans fear and hunt them. After a decade of living safely in his secluded forest home, a sheltered hybrid deer-boy named Gus (Christian Convery) unexpectedly befriends a wandering loner named Jepperd (Nonso Anozie). Together they set out on an extraordinary adventure across what’s left of America in search of answers— about Gus' origins, Jepperd's past, and the true meaning of home. But their story is full of unexpected allies and enemies, and Gus quickly learns the lush, dangerous world outside the forest is more complex than he ever could have imagined.

Based on the DC comic book series by Jeff Lemire, Sweet Tooth is executive produced by Jim Mickle, Beth Schwartz, Robert Downey, Jr., Susan Downey, Amanda Burrell, and Linda Moran.

The cast includes Christian Convery, Nonso Anozie, Adeel Akhtar, Aliza Vellani, Stefania LaVie Owen, Dania Ramirez, Neil Sandilands, and Will Forte, with James Brolin as the narrator of the series.

Judging from the trailer, Netflix's Sweet Tooth looks to be taking a few liberties with the project's source material, but damn it looks pretty. Plus, a little tweaking to the story and characters might have been necessary considering how dark and devastating the comic book series is. The Netflix presentation looks to be adding a bit more whimsy to the show's post-apocalyptic mix, though I have a feeling we'll get into the dark stuff before long.
