SyFy announces reboot of Rod Serling’s Night Gallery

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

As we all know by this point in time, CBS All Access has a reboot of Rod Serling's classic series THE TWILIGHT ZONE headed out way in the near future. The rebooted series will be hosted and narrated by GET OUT writer/director Jordan Peele, and the first season of this new version will consist of ten episodes. And if that wasn't enough reboot Sterling for you, today we have word there's now officially another one in the works as well.

This time it's Serling's 70's horror anthology series NIGHT GALLERY.

The original series aired on NBC from 1969-1973 and featured stories of horror and the macabre. Rod Serling served both as the host and as a major contributor of scripts, although he did not have the same control of content and tone as he had on The Twilight Zone. Serling viewed Night Gallery as an extension of The Twilight Zone, but while Zone's offerings were science fiction, Night Gallery focused mostly on horror and the supernatural.

This new take will

update the series for the digital age. Featuring dark and twisted morality tales paired with Serling’s specific brand of irony, Night Gallery will explore and exploit every modern nightmare imaginable, mining our fears of the dangers of social media.

Personally, I think I might be more excited for this reboot than the upcoming one of THE TWILIGHT ZONE. I mean I dug NIGHT GALLERY much more as a kid and it consistently scared the ever-living f*ck out of me. I'm still on the fence about which rebooted series I'm looking forward to more, but if Jordan Peele had signed on to reboot THIS series, it would be no question.

But unfortunately, there's no Peele (or even a Key) in sight of this reboot. Instead, Jeff Davis, the creator/executive producer of MTV's TEEN WOLF reboot series, and MIDNIGHT, TEXAS executive producer David Janollari will be executive producing this new show. The rebooted series has already been picked up by SyFy for development and will be co-produced by Universal TV and Universal Cable Prods.
