SyFy’s Happy trailer shows off more bloody mayhem and cartoon antics

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Who hasn’t had an imaginary friend at some point in their life? Playing with you when no one else would, going on cool adventures together, them telling you to burn the house and skin the non-believers. Pretty normal stuff, really. What’s cool about the upcoming HAPPY! is that we normally associate imaginary friends – especially cute flying unicorns – as something for children. Thus, creating a contrast between fanciful whimsy and a hard-boiled crime noir is pretty genius. And judging by the above trailer above, it seems like they might actually pull this one off!

Anyway, here’s the official synopsis, courtesy of SyFy:

HAPPY! is based on New York Times best-selling author Grant Morrison and Darick Robertson’s graphic novel of the same name. The series follows Nick Sax (Christopher Meloni, Law & Order: SVU) – an intoxicated, corrupt ex-cop turned hit man – who is adrift in a world of casual murder, soulless sex and betrayal. After a hit gone wrong, his inebriated life is forever changed by a tiny, relentlessly positive, imaginary blue winged horse named Happy (Patton Oswalt).

Honestly I can’t wait for this thing, as I’ve been excited for this since I first heard it announced. I mean, who doesn’t want to see a cute imaginary friend deal with hookers, shoot-outs, and mobsters?

Meanwhile, HAPPY! will fly into SyFY on December 6th!
