Taphaphobia

Sean Clark over at Dread Central sent over some news that fans of films based on fears will find quite the treat.

It’s called TAPHAPHOBIA, which ranks up there with caligynephobia (fear of beautiful women) and phonophobia (fear of voices or noises, speaking aloud or telephones) as the ‘what the hell?’ types of phobia.

Producer Scott Perlman (BROTHERHOOD OF BLOOD, MANGLER REBORN) explains, saying it “means the fear of being buried alive.” Makes sense, really. “the film is about a character named Mike Hollister, played by Desmond Harrington, who wakes up in a pine box and [realizes that] he’s been buried alive. He has no idea how he got there and all he has is the light from his cell phone, [but the] battery is running out. In the style of MEMENTO, through non-linier flashbacks, he pieces together how he got there. It’s kind of like a dark film noir story where he walks into a bar and meets a damsel in distress and ends up helping the wrong woman, named Jessie (Estella Warren). Fans of MEMENTO, FIGHT CLUB and Hitchcock will really dig this because the script is pretty dark and twisted.”

Another awesome concept! Along with the short interview with Perlman, DC was also given some pics from the film, which besides Desmond Harrington (WRONG TURN), stars Estella Warren (PLANET OF THE APES) and Danny Trejo (THE DEVIL’S REJECTS), and was written and directed by Aaron Pope (writer of THE BOSTON STRANGLER). Head on over to DC to see the pics. No word yet on any release date, so as always, stay tuned.
