Taron Egerton will soon be trading in his secret agent adventures in favour of intimate discussions with a potential serial killer. The Kingsman actor is slated to star in Apple's adaption of the 2010 novel In With The Devil: A Fallen Hero, A Serial Killer, and A Dangerous Bargain for Redemption by James Keene and Hillel Levin.

It's been reported that Apple is nearing a series order for In With the Devil, which will be a six-episode adaption of the novel. The true story follows James Keene, a young Chicago man who was destined for greatness on the football field but instead took a few wrong turns that led to a ten-year prison sentence. While incarcerated, Keene is offered the chance to redeem himself if he's able to befriend and coax a confession out of a fellow inmate, a man who is suspected of being a prolific serial killer. Paul Walter Hauser (Richard Jewell) is in talks to play the serial killer. The project was once in development for HBO and was intended to follow in the footsteps of True Detective and The Night Of, but it was picked up by Apple following the departure of HBO's former CEO Richard Plepler. Michael R. Roskam (The Drop) will direct the series from a script by Dennis Lehane (Shutter Island) and it will shoot in New Orleans.

While the next installment of the Kingsman franchise will be lacking Taron Egerton, the actor is set to return for the next film, which he has previously teased will serve as a "befitting way to finish the trilogy." Egerton continued, saying "I'm really not allowed to say anything, but there is a script. It's a really neat idea. That plan, at the moment, is that we'd like to do another one, one more time. It was the role that kind of started my film career, so I'm always going to feel, you know, a great fondness for the part. I would like to do one more because frankly, I'd like to say goodbye to him [Eggsy] in a befitting way and to finish the trilogy. All good things come to an end. It was always imagined as a trilogy, and I think it'd be great to finish the story off because I've loved playing the character." Even if this proves to be the last Kingsman film for Egerton, producer Zygi Kamasa has teased that Matthew Vaughn has close to seven more Kingsman films in the works. The King's Man, which serves as a prequel for the franchise, is currently slated to hit theaters on August 20, 2021.
