Back in the 1970s, Ted Kaczynski decided to give up a career as a math professor to live in the wilderness. After seeing the destruction of the forest around his cabin, he lashed out at modern society by targeting people connected to universities, airlines, and computer stores, among other things, with bombs he would either mail out or place himself. As the FBI spent decades searching for the source of these bombs, the person making them came to be known as the Unabomber, short for “University and Airline Bomber”. Now a film called Ted K, starring Sharlto Copley (District 9) as Ted Kaczynski / the Unabomber, is set to receive a theatrical and VOD release on February 18th. In anticipation of this release, a trailer has arrived online and can be seen in the embed above.

Directed by Tony Stone, who also wrote the screenplay with Gaddy Davis and John Rosenthal, Ted K is said to be

a bracing, cinematic journey into the tortured mind of The Unabomber. Deep in the American Rocky Mountains lived a man who sought refuge from modern society. His dark writings forewarned of a society ruled by technology. As the outside world encroached on his mountain sanctuary, he slowly became radicalized with rage. What began with small acts of sabotage, culminated with deadly bomb attacks, national media attention, and the largest manhunt in American history.

Copley is joined in the cast by Drew Powell (Gotham), Amber Rose Mason (Two Eyes), Travis Bruyer (Bring on the Dancing Horses), Megan Folsom (We Burn Like This), and Keith Barber (Perry Mason).

Stone produced Ted K with Matt Flanders. Melissa Auf der Maur, Shannon Houchins, Trevor O’Neil, and Potsy Ponciroli served as executive producers, with Jake Perlin, Niles Roth, and Colin Scott co-producing.

Ted K looks like it could be pretty interesting. This one might be worth checking out next month.
