Ted Serandos assures fans that House of Cards will have a sixth season

Earlier today, Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos announced that the streamer's political drama, HOUSE OF CARDS, will indeed present a sixth and final season of the show without Kevin Spacey in the lead as Frank Underwood.

For the past several weeks, the future of the show’s production has been brought into question following Spacey’s termination from the program. As you’re more than likely aware, Spacey was fired from the show after Star Trek Discovery’s Anthony Rapp accused the actor of making sexual advances of him at a party when Rapp was just 14-years-old. Since the time of Rapp's accusation, several more individuals have come forward with their own stories of sexual misconduct perpetrated by the HOUSE OF CARDS star.

Season 6 of the political drama will begin production next year, with Robin Wright’s Claire Underwood now serving as the main character for the eight-episode finale.

In talking about wrapping up the show, Serandos says that the final season will "bring closure of the show for fans," as well as bring back the 2,000 or so people in Baltimore whose financial futures depend on the show.
