Infamous serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer is returning to the screen, and he's being played by… TEEN BEACH MOVIE star Ross Lynch? I've barely heard of this kid, because I'm a grown-up, but the Disney Channel favorite is famous for his appearance on the show Austin & Alley, which I've never heard of. He's also apparently a founding member of the pop rock band R5. Damn, I'm getting old.
Sorry to digress. Lynch will be starring as Jeffrey Dahmer in his high school years in the indie flick MY FRIEND DAHMER:
The coming-of-age story centers on the young Dahmer as he struggles with a difficult family life and thoughts of wanting to kill.
Directed by Marc Meyers (HOW HE FELL IN LOVE) from his own script, which is adapted from the Derf Backderf graphic novel, MY FRIEND DAHMER sounds like a more reality-tinged Bates Motel style narrative. Ross Lynch might not be Jeremy Renner, but I'm willing to give this one a chance. It's a killer concept, pun absolutely intended.
The film, produced by Adam Goldworm and Aperture Entertainment alonside Meyers and Jody Girgenti, will shoot in Ohio this August.
