Variety reports that Italian company Teodora Film has picked up RICKY.
RICKY is directed by Francois Ozon and centers on a child with supernatural powers. The interesting thing to note is that Ozon has said the film will have a little of everything, seriously. It’s a thriller, horror, sci-fi, comedy, fairy tale.
That’s quite the mix. Although PAN’S LABYRINTH did a brilliant job of mixing all those genres, minus comedy of course. So it will be interesting to see how RICKY goes about covering all that.
Another interesting note is that PAN’S LABYRINTH star Sergi Lopez (above) will be starring as one of the child’s parents. Alexandra Lamy (below) will be the other parent.
Chris Bolzi’s Eurowide Film Production will be producing RICKY with Paris/LA based effects company BUF also working on the film. I think it’s noteworthy that BUF has also worked on recent blockbuster SPIDER-MAN 3.
Filming for RICKY is slated to being February 25 in Paris.
