If you know the name Terrance Zdunich, it’s most likely because you’re a fan of REPO! THE GENETIC OPERA. Zdunich co-created the original play and co-wrote the film’s screenplay, as well as starred in it as “The Graverobber”. Dude isn’t content to stick with just musicals, screenplays and acting turns – he’s also a comic-book writer and illustrator, with his own book, THE MOLTING out now. As of now, he’s up to issue #4 out of 12.

THE MOLTING details the dark struggles of a dysfunctional Southern Californian family living across the street from “The Happiest Place On Earth” in the late 1990s.

If you’ve already been digging this, there some new goodies in store. You can now check out a demented art class, taught be “The Tutor” (Zdunich himself), over at THE MOLTING’s official blog. The Tutor’s class consists of fourteen lessons. Each lesson is no more than a minute-and-a-half. At the end of the course, students will not only learn the steps necessary to complete a painted still life, they will learn how to get away with a crime. (Zdunich’s words, not mine!) Apparently, you can even submit your own artwork to “the class”, which is pretty cool, especially if some of you artists are as demented as I think you are…

So hit up THE MOLTING for a serious indie comic; it ain’t the same old thing, and that should be enough.
