Texting horror

To all cell phone texters, your time has come… to meet your maker! At least that’s the general idea of the upcoming slasher simply titled TEXT. One good thing the flick already has going for it—the leading lady is Hanna Hall (below) who was very nice as Judith Meyers in ROB ZOMBIE’S HALLOWEEN. To quote William Forsyth’s character, she’s got ”one mighty fine lookin’ dumper.” One not so good thing about TEXT is that the plot sounds a bit similar to the shitfest ONE MISSED CALL:

It follows the plight of a high school student (Hall) who along with three friends attempts to get to the bottom of the mysterious deaths of a number of their classmates. It seems each one shuffled off the mortal coil shortly after receiving mysterious text messages on their cell phones.

Sure sounds like CALL. However, TEXT’s director, Brian McCulley, begs to differ. “It focuses on mind programming with the use of sounds,” he says. “The killer sends text messages with images and sounds that trigger the recipient to do dangerous and risky stunts, and even to start killing their friends without remembering it.” That actually sounds pretty cool. Plus, by the pic above, I believe we may be in store for some gruesomely great gore. McCulley has even promised “some crazy, weird deaths.”

TEXT was written by Ken Maskrey and in addition to Hall, stars Laura Peters, Michael Kaiser, Joel Geist, Kevin Derkash, Josh Philips, Katrina Miller, and Reggie Bannister (PHANTASM). There isn’t a release date yet, but McCulley has been approached by several distributors, so we may be hearing more about it soon. For now you can check out the official site here.
