Skipped over this one earlier in the week, so I thought it was time to give it some air. The Hollywood Reporter shared that Rogue Pictures has a remake planned for Spanish thriller AUSENTES, which translates as THE ABSENT.
The concept revolves around a woman who moves to the suburbs to recover from a nervous breakdown but begins to suspect that there is something sinister about her new town and that her family might be involved.
Nice and creepy sounding, although it does smack of THE STEPFORD WIVES. Daniel Calparsoro, who directed the original, is set to helm the remake. Sounds like good news, but as THE VANISHING showed, the original director can still come in and completely muck up a remake.
The project is currently out to writers, so if you happend to be a Spanish speaking screenwriter, go take some meetings!
