The Alienist featurette introduces title character, played by Daniel Bruhl

The Alienist Daniel Bruhl

The upcoming TNT event series The Alienist stars Daniel Brühl, Luke Evans, and Dakota Fanning, and last Wednesday we shared a promotional featurette that introduced Fanning's character, aspiring police detective Sara Howard. The next day, we shared a featurette that introduced Evans's character, reporter John Moore.

There was no Alienist featurette on Friday, but we have one to shared with you all today… and you can probably guess which of the leads this one focuses on. Yes, the latest featurette is all about Daniel Brühl and his character, the titular alienist himself, criminal psychologist Dr. Laszlo Kreizler.

A psychological thriller based on the 1994 novel by Caleb Carr, The Alienist is set at the turn of the 20th century, when

a series of haunting murders of boy prostitutes grips New York City. Newly appointed police commissioner Theodore Roosevelt calls upon criminal psychologist Dr. Laszlo Kreizler and newspaper illustrator John Moore to conduct the investigation in secret. They are joined by Sara Howard, a headstrong secretary determined to become the city's first female police detective. Using the emerging disciplines of psychology and forensics, this band of social outsiders set out to apprehend one of New York City's first serial killers.

In the cast with Brühl, Evans, and Fanning are  Douglas Smith, Matthew Shear, Matt Lintz, Robert Ray Wisdom, and Q'orianka Kilcher, with Brian Geraghty as Theodore Roosevelt.

Check out the Brühl/Kreizler featurette below and get ready for The Alienist to premiere on TNT platforms on Monday, January 22 at 9pm ET/PT.
