The Apparition, Melancholia and In Time get rated by the MPAA

The folks at the MPAA have once again waved their magic wands of knowledge and blessed a few flicks we’re looking forward to with ratings. Don’t question them; the MPAA knows what’s best for you.

First up is a flick we seem to hear less and less from. Todd Lincoln’s supernatural thriller THE APPARITION, starring Sebastian Stan and Ashley Greene (pictured above), has been given a PG-13, for terror/frightening images and some sensuality. All well and good, but since the film has a TBA 2012 release, there’s no telling when we’ll see those frightening images.

Lars von Trier’s end of the world drama MELANCHOLIA nabbed an R rating (no surprise there), for some graphic nudity, sexual content and language. I like how it’s “some” graphic nudity. If there’s graphic nudity, it’s a bit silly to get into portions, isn’t it..? MELANCHOLIA hits on NOVEMBER 11th.

Meanwhile, the time-is-money futuristic thriller IN TIME, starring Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfried and Cillian Murphy, also scored a PG-13, for violence, some sexuality and partial nudity, and brief strong language. One thing I’ve learned these past few years: If Amanda Seyfried is in a movie, there will be some sexuality and partial nudity. And that’s why she’s one of our faves…IN TIME disrobes on OCTOBER 28th.
