The Burning: 1981 slasher is getting a 4K UHD release this summer

The 1981 slasher The Burning, featuring special effects by Tom Savini, is coming to 4K UHD from Scream Factory this summer

Scream Factory has announced that they will be bringing the 1981 slasher The Burning (watch it HERE) to 4K UHD this summer – on July 11th, to be exact – and they’re taking pre-orders at THIS LINK. While supplies last, fans who order the 4K UHD / Blu-ray set through the Scream Factory website will receive an exclusive 18” X 24” rolled poster featuring the original theatrical artwork. The price is $35.99.

The movie is a very cool slasher and I think Scream Factory has chosen an ideal release date for it, as it’s a great one to put on during the summer.

Directed by Tony Maylam, who also crafted the story with Bob Weinstein, Peter Lawrence, Brad Grey, and, unfortunately, Harvey Weinstein, The Burning has the following synopsis: At summer camp, some teenagers pull a prank on the camp’s caretaker, Cropsy. But the joke goes terribly wrong, and the teens leave Cropsy for dead after setting him on fire. But no one keeps Cropsy down. A few years later, the burned and disfigured caretaker returns to camp equipped with his trusty shears, ready to unleash his particular brand of vengeance on a whole new group of teens. The murderous Cropsy stalks the campers in the woods, one by one.

The film stars Brian Matthews, Leah Ayres, Brian Backer, Larry Joshua, Lou David, Jason Alexander, Ned Eisenberg, Carrick Glenn, Carolyn Houlihan, Fisher Stevens, Shelley Bruce, Sarah Chodoff, Bonnie Deroski, Holly Hunter, and the special effects of Tom Savini.
