The Call of the Wild and Downhill get early digital releases

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

After making their debut in February, THE CALL OF THE WILD and DOWNHILL will be making their digital arrival on March 27 in the U.S.

The titles will be available on the digital platform. THE CALL OF THE WILD will run for $14.99 while DOWNHILL will be available for $9.99. They follow a plethora of films that made their digital debut early due to theater closures nationwide amid the coronavirus pandemic. Warner Bros hit digital early for BIRDS OF PREY this week while Univeral pulled the trigger first by releasing THE INVISIBLE MAN, THE HUNT & EMMA early for digital consumption. It appears it may be a move that some studios may make as we are in uncertain times in terms of theatrical releases.

THE CALL OF THE WILD was mostly well-received by critics and audiences and would've been considered a minor hit after it opened to $25 million if not for its massive $125 million budget. The Harrison Ford film is looking to make up some ground with its digital debut. DOWNHILL, starring Will Ferrell and Julia Louis-Dreyfus, made its debut at the Sundance Film Festival but the film failed to ignite with critics or audiences. The film carries a 38% on Rotten Tomatoes and has only made $8.2 million to date after opening to $4.6 million back in February.
