The Conjuring writers scripting a new horror project for Joel Silver

The Conjuring 2 Vera Farmiga

Just the other night, I was thinking of how awesome producer Joel Silver's career has been. The man has over 40 years of credits to his name, and in that time he has had a hand in bringing such films as THE WARRIORS, COMMANDO, LETHAL WEAPON, PREDATOR, DIE HARD, and many more to the screen. While he gifted us with some great action, he has also worked in the horror genre as well, serving as executive producer on the Tales from the Crypt series and producing horror films under the Dark Castle banner.

For his latest genre project, Silver is working with a writing duo who have a lot of experience with horror, Chad and Carey Hayes. Together the Hayes brothers have written HOUSE OF WAX, THE REAPING, THE CONJURING, and THE CONJURING 2, among others.

The genre and the fact that Silver and Hayes siblings are collaborating on it are pretty much the only details currently known about the project. Title and subject matter are being kept secret for now.

The Silver/Hayes project is set up at Sony, and Columbia Pictures executive vice president of creative production Palak Patel is overseeing its development for the studio.

Whatever this is, it will definitely be worth keeping an eye on as it develops simply because of the people involved in the making of it.
