The Crater Lake Monster: Watch the 1977 creature feature right here!

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Want some old school cheeseball horror to watch this weekend? We've got you covered at the Paranormal Network YouTube channel, where we've just uploaded producer/director William R. Stromberg's 1977 film The Crater Lake Monster in its entirety. You can watch it in the embed above!

Scripted by Stromberg and Richard Cardella, this Crown International Pictures release is basically, as you might have guessed from the title, a Northern California play on the concept of the Loch Ness Monster. Here's the synopsis:

A meteor that crashed into Crater Lake unearths a dinosaur egg. The heat from the meteor causes the egg to hatch, and the emerging dinosaur takes to snacking on the locals.

Co-writer Cardella also co-stars in the movie with Glen Roberts, Mark Siegel, Bob Hyman, Richard Garrison, Kacey Cobb, Michael Hoover, Suzanne Lewis, Marv Eliot, Garry Johnston, Susy Claycomb, and Jim Goeppinger.

Cardella was not pleased with the finished film, complaining that Crown International

just screwed up everything. They pulled their support for some key scenes (that would have explained a lot and plugged some of the obvious holes), added a canned score that really sucked, and turned it over to some hack to edit. The asshole didn't even use a fade or dissolve in the whole freakin' picture!"

If you're like me, hearing that a movie is such a mess that the writer/star called the editor an asshole makes that movie an instant must-see, and that's one of the reasons why we're giving you this special holiday weekend treat: The Crater Lake Monster.

The Paranormal Network YouTube channel is dedicated to things like UFOs, hauntings, and cryptids. A sample of a few of our videos can be seen below. To see more of what the channel has to offer, head over to YouTube – and subscribe while you're there!
