The Creeps: Christopher Lambert to star in Finnish creature feature

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

The legendary Highlander himself Christopher Lambert has signed on to star in writer/director Marko Makilaakso's Finnish creature feature The Creeps, which is set to start filming this month. The action-horror-comedy is said to be inspired by the likes of Gremlins, Critters, Highlander, and American Pie, which is an interesting mix.

The story centers on

two young Americans as they prepare for the celebration of Monsterfest, an event in the skiing center of Vuokatti. The party is soon interrupted when the Creeps, small but lethal, take over the event.

Lambert is joined in the cast by Chris Cavalier and Iiro Panula. The Creeps themselves have been designed by Disney veteran Barry Atkinson.

Produced by Miika J. Norvanto of Black Lion Pictures and Timo Puustinen of Frozen Flame Pictures, The Creeps is aiming to have its premiere in December. Raven Banner is handling the film's worldwide sales.

Norvanto had this to say about the project:

We are extremely happy and excited that we get to produce The Creeps with Makilaakso. We have been planning a film together for a long time, and now we can finally get to work on it. Of course, having Christopher Lambert with us is a dream come true in so many ways. This is an awesome start for Kajawood and its international productions still to come."

Puustinen added:

We finally get to carry out this genre I love, and which I miss from my childhood. 1980-90s nostalgia, action, comedy, and innocence. Pure unexcused entertainment."

And Makilaakso said,

The Creeps will be a very entertaining, popcorn-flick for a large audience, and it is insanely great that Christopher, Chris, and other actors are in this fun adventure."

This sounds like it could be a fun time. I look forward to seeing how it will turn out.
