The Current War about Edison, Westinghouse, and Tesla releases new trailer

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Wow, okay. I think they're trying to make Edison the good guy in this situation? That's…not good. Anyway, THE CURRENT WAR starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Thomas Edison, Michael Shannon as George Westinghouse, Nicholas Hoult as Nikola Tesla just released a new trailer, which you can watch above. And it looks like a typical biopic, with some flourish here and there.

Look, I imagine Westinghouse was a bastard too, so if the film is framing Edison as someone who becomes cutthroat because "the path to Hell is paved with good intentions", then that could work. Especially since his abuse of Nikola Tesla didn't come until later in life. So we'll see how this plays out, as I'm fascinated by this point in history – and especially of Tesla – and I enjoy all the actors playing them. I just hope they keep the fact that Tesla hated things that were circular shaped in the script.

Meanwhile, THE CURRENT WAR will go to battle in theaters November 24th.
