While Marvel owns the big screen, DC is expanding their small screen reach with a fifth series. Joining Gotham, Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl will next be the Arrow/Flash spin-off DC's Legends of Tomorrow which was just officially picked up for a first season by The CW.
We previously learned that the series would focus on Brandon Routh's Arrow character Ray Palmer along with The Flash villain Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) and former Canary Caity Lotz. With the show getting a series order, The CW has released a full synopsis that confirms the inclusion of DC character Rip Hunter.

The Flash has been one of the more entertaining series to debut this season and, while dipping in quality, Arrow still remains enjoyable as well. Having a third series on The CW increases the cross-over potential for all three shows and creates a DC Television Universe, something Marvel has been toying with but not quite to the same extent.
How the series will fit in with the other shows remains to be seen, but expect more details as they develop. The Flash currently airs on Tuesdays and Arrow on Wednesdays on The CW.
