The CW picks up the Transylvania pilot

The CW has made a commitment to Transylvania, the period horror show from writer/executive producer Hugh Sterbakov, picking up the pilot and giving it a shot at the 2016-2017 season.

Set in 1880, Transylvania:

centers on a headstrong young woman searching for her missing father who ventures from Transylvania to New York, where she teams with a wrongfully disgraced Scotland Yard detective. Together, they witness the births of the most famous monsters and villains in history.

That sounds eerily similar to Showtime's Penny Dreadful, but more horror television is always good news. Transylvania is one of six pilots that have been picked up by the network, including the new Kevin Williamson paranormal drama and a spooky sci-fi show about the first colony on Mars.

The show is produced by Jeff Pinkner, Josh Appelbaum, Andre Nemec, and Scott Rosenberg of Midnight Radio, the team behind CBS's Zoo.
