The F*ckin Black Sheep: Alien: Resurrection (Video)

Last Updated on September 22, 2021

You may or may not have heard, but the xenomorphs are back in town. ALIEN: COVENANT is the latest film in the refreshed ALIEN franchise, which began well over 30 years ago with Ridley Scott’s seminal 1979 sci-fi horror show. The series has seen a lot of ups and downs over the years – some might argue mostly downs – but whatever you think of the movies overall, you can never say they don’t provoke passionate conversation amongst genre fans.

One of them, however, predominantly finds itself maligned, chided, and mocked. That would be ALIEN: RESURRECTION, Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s tenebrous, frequently flat-out bizarre effort from 1997. Written by Joss Whedon, the movie screams either “interesting failure” or “ridiculous nightmare” to most of the franchise’s supporters, but there are a handful out there who genuinely think the film has plenty of attributes. Lance Vlcek is one such man, and his latest video installment of our F*CKIN BLACK SHEEP series indeed focuses on Jeunet’s freakish sequel.

Lance can always be counted upon to make some solid points when defending a beaten down black sheep, and often makes a convincing case for RESURRECTION, warts and all. You don’t have to ultimately agree with him, of course, but perhaps you’ll look at this quirky entry with a slightly more open mind next time you watch it. If you ever watch it again…
