Three things will remain When the apocalypse comes: Keith Richards, cockroaches, and more movies in The Fast Saga series. While revving people up about the Fast X‘s release, Vin Diesel said more movies in the Fast franchise are coming, including spinoffs and a female-led feature film. “I started developing the female spinoff…in 2017 with other spinoffs, and the sooner I deliver the finale, the sooner I can launch all the spinoffs,” Diesel told Variety on Saturday at the Charlize Thron Africa Outreach Project Block Party.

Fast X is the first of a two-part finale for the core Fast and Furious movies, with rumors of a third installment making the rounds. Speaking about reaching the end of the road during the Fast X Rome premiere, Diesel said, “It’s bittersweet to think of a finale.” Adding, “Look how many characters and great talent there is in the movie. There was no way I can pull that off unless I had everyone on for five seconds. These characters are appealing, and we need to see more of them.”

This next bit contains significant spoilers about Fast X. I suggest you proceed cautiously.

Thanks to the film’s high-octane action, ludicrous stunts, and surprise cameos, Fast X is making waves among fans. The film features the return of Gal Gadot’s Gisele and the return of Dwayne Johnson’s Luke Hobbs. Diesel says it was challenging to keep their involvement a secret, adding, “I’m so excited to have them back home and even more excited to see fan reactions and to see how happy it makes people.” According to Diesel, Gadot shot scenes for other films in the Fast Saga. However, her scenes got scrapped. The timing wasn’t right, so Universal reworked her return for Fast X.

Regarding the female-focused Fast film, Rodriguez is still considering signing up for more Fast movies after the core saga ends. “You pass the baton on. You take the back seat,” she said. “You go passenger side. When it comes the next generation, you have to. It’s the only way to let them define the future.” Could a female-focused Fast movie work without Rodriguez’s Letty?
