John Carpenter's 1978 film HALLOWEEN is widely regarded as one of the greatest horror films ever made, but once you go past that one and look over the lengthy franchise that it spawned, you'll find a lot of questionable installments that could be considered the "black sheep" of the series. HALLOWEEN 5, HALLOWEEN: THE CURSE OF MICHAEL MYERS, HALLOWEEN: RESURRECTION, they're all often referred to as the worst of the bunch. HALLOWEEN III: SEASON OF THE WITCH has a lot of fans, but it has also been written off by some viewers because it's not about Michael Myers. Rob Zombie's 2007 HALLOWEEN remake is a contentious entry, but it has a good number of fans as well…
Then Zombie followed his remake with 2009's HALLOWEEN II, a poorly received film that tends to be ranked right down there with the likes of CURSE and RESURRECTION. HALLOWEEN II is frequently bashed and mocked, and it's not hard to understand why. It's very "out there" compared to the other HALLOWEEN films, featuring a mostly unmasked Michael Myers and surreal visions of things like a ghost mom and a white horse… But with the latest edition of his The F*cking Black Sheep video series, Lance Vlcek comes to the film's defense, pointing out its positive aspects and letting us know why he considers it to be the best HALLOWEEN movie since the original.
Starring Scout Taylor-Compton, Malcolm McDowell, Tyler Mane, Sheri Moon Zombie, Brad Dourif, and Danielle Harris, HALLOWEEN II 2009 has the following synopsis:
Picking up right where the first film left off, Laurie is taken to the hospital after supposedly killing the man who was responsible for the deaths of several people in the town of Haddonfield, Illinois. However, her stay at Haddonfield General becomes very brief when a very much alive Michael appears once more, brutally murdering everyone in the hospital to find his sister. Michael disappears, and Laurie survives the infamous Halloween massacre, but is still haunted by it years later. Laurie struggles to come to terms with her dark past, or at least forget it. But the supposedly dead Michael Myers has other plans, and as the anniversary of his massacre approaches, he returns to Haddonfield once more, with a family reunion planned that Laurie will never forget.
