The Black Sheep: The Relic (Video)

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

I have not been shy about my love for a good monster movie, and since A QUIET PLACE II was initially supposed to drop last Friday, I thought now is a great time to defend a '90s favorite of mine: THE RELIC (WATCH IT HEREOWN IT HERE).

Now things have obviously changed, and I hope you're staying safe, but the show must go on! The sad fact is that the '90s have become a punching bag for the horror genre, and I'm here to change that.

Released in 1997 and often referred to as JURASSIC PARK meets ALIEN, THE RELIC is a tense, big-budget action/horror hybrid that boasts one of Stan Winston's most under-rated creations. This was directed by the always reliable Peter Hyams, who gave us the much-maligned END OF DAYS and one of my personal favorites, TIME COP. It's like LOOPER starring Bruce Willis only a million times better!

Starring Tom Sizemore, Penelope Miller, Linda Hunt, Chi Muoi Lo, and James Whitmore, THE RELIC tells the following story:
A homicide detective and an anthropologist try to destroy a South American lizard-like god, who's on a people eating rampage in a Chicago museum.
I have done all I could and leave it up to you to form your own opinion. Does THE RELIC deserve to be labeled as The F*cking Black Sheep? You decide!
