Stallone and Schwarzenegger smiling together

THE TOMB may not have a release date set yet, and this picture may not be anything thrilling in and of itself, but the general plot and Schwarzenegger’s grey goatee/steely stare are getting me strangely excited for this movie. And while a few pictures popped up several months ago from a feature by Entertainment Tonight, we now have the first official photo from the flick which you can check out below.

Hopefully this pictures means that Lionsgate, purveyors of (mostly) fine genre cinema, will be rolling out more promotional pieces sooner rather than later.

Is anyone else out there with me in being more excited for this team up of Schwarzenegger and Stallone than that of THE EXPENDABLES 2?

Plot/character recap: The film follows Ray Breslin (Stallone), the world’s foremost authority on structural security. He’s analyzed nearly every high security prison. After being framed by persons unknown, all of Breslin’s ingenuity and expertise are about to be put to work in the most challenging test he’s ever faced: escaping from a high-tech prison facility that’s design is based on his own protocols.

Schwarzenegger plays Emil Rottmayer,a complex inmate with multiple shades of gray. He’s the guy who fights to keep the prisoners from losing their humanity in their darkest hour as they struggle together to stay alive.
