Comic book movies are ready to embrace the multiverse. The Flash movie will be the first to introduce the multiverse to the DCEU as Barry Allen (Ezra Miller) will travel back in time in an attempt to prevent his mother’s murder, which will bring unintended consequences to his timeline. Much of the movie is being kept under wraps, but we do know that Michael Keaton will once again play Bruce Wayne/Batman, a role he hasn’t played since Batman Returns in 1992.

While speaking with Collider, The Flash cinematographer Henry Braham teased the massive scope of the film.

It’s a pleasure working with the cast, as they’re fantastic. Michael, of course, is a genius, and it’s wonderful to see him recreate that role but in the present day. It’s wonderful. I think the movie has a massive scope, and I’m lucky to be able to work on movies I’d like to go and see. I’m not really interested in comic book movies. I’m interested in movies that take me on a journey, an emotional journey and a visual journey.

Henry Braham added that The Flash will be a “complex” movie, but that he doesn’t really see it as a superhero movie. It will come across as a movie, and that’s what it is,” Braham said. “I think that’s the way these things need to go. We need to be making great, great, great films that happen to have superheroes who have truthful characters behind them, with all the character flaws that we find in humanity. In addition to Ezra Miller and Michael Keaton, The Flash will also star Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, Sasha Calle as Supergirl, Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Ron Livingston as Henry Allen, and Maribel Verdú as Nora Allen. The Flash will hit theaters on November 4, 2022.
