The Flight Attendant third season isn’t cleared for takeoff, says Kaley Cuoco

Sometimes you just need to know when you put in the good work and it’s time to move on to something new. This seems to be the case with Kaley Cuoco and HBO Max’s The Flight Attendant, which has seen the release of two critically acclaimed seasons. Will we be getting on board for more stories? Kaley Cuoco herself seems unsure if a third season will be happening.

During a chat with People, Cuoco cast doubt on a third season because she believes they told a very complete story across the two seasons that have been released. Cuoco said, “It’s going to take a lot of thought to make sure if we go back that it’s better than the last two, which is very hard to do. There’s definitely interest in doing a third season. I think for me, at this moment, the plane has landed.”

After revealing that there are no current plans for a third season, Cuoco did say that the best thing about the season 2 finale, which dropped Thursday, is that the series “could definitely be done or it’s definitely open to continuing.” The actress continued, “I think the writers and the team did a really beautiful job in typing it up in a pretty bow but if you had to open the bow, it would be okay.”

It sounds like Cuoco just needs to take a beat to determine if there is more story to tell. If there is a third season, she said it would revolve around her character Cassie Bowden’s struggles maintaining her sobriety. In the meantime, it looks like she needs to think about a return:

“I think I need a minute. I just kind of feel like we just ended. Some of my favorite shows on TV take some time to come back, and then I get very excited about a new season. I want to make sure that the fans are excited and that we’re not pushing it too hard.”

The Flight Attendant follows a reckless Cassie Bowden, played by Kaley Cuoco, as her issues with alcoholism find her waking up in the wrong hotel and in the wrong bed with a dead man without a single clue as to what happened. Unable to piece the night together, she begins to question if she could be the killer. The show was nominated for nine Emmys in 2021, including Outstanding Comedy Series and Lead Actress for Cuoco.
