The Forever Purge: One night isn’t enough for mayhem in film’s first trailer

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

The first trailer for The Forever Purge has arrived and it gives us a look inside the fifth and final film of the popular Purge franchise.

Serving as a direct sequel to 2016's The Purge: Election Year, the film follows the presidential elections from the last year and the abolition of the Purge. As we enter the film, a Mexican couple escapes from a drug cartel and is stranded on a Texas ranch. There, they will be at the mercy of a group of outsiders who plan to unlawfully continue their own Purge, and turn against the couple to eliminate them. The franchise will be pushed into new territory as members of this underground movement are no longer satisfied with one annual night of anarchy and murder and they decide to overtake America through an unending campaign of mayhem and massacre. The film stars Ana de la Reguera, Josh Lucas, Tenoch Huerta, Leven Rambin, Will Patton, and Cassidy Freeman.

The Forever Purge was originally scheduled for a theatrical release on July 10, 2020. On May 15, 2020, its release was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with no new release date given. On July 8, 2020, it was reported that the film had been rescheduled for release on July 9, 2021, only to move forward by a week to July 2, 2021, back in April of this year.
