The full first trailer for Iron Man 3 is epic, dark, thrilling, and will leave you begging for more

After enduring an onslaught of set pics, official images, teasers, and a poster, we now have the first full trailer for IRON MAN 3.  So, does it live up the hype?  Will it redeem itself after the somewhat lackluster IRON MAN 2?  The short answer: It sure as hell looks that way.  What we have here is a trailer that truly sets up the stakes of the game.  Instead of showing us the entire movie in two minutes, this trailer teases the way a trailer should.  This is the lap dance that leaves you reaching for another $20.  So, with that in mind, bust open your wallet, take a seat, and let this trailer work you over.

Lesson Number One:

So, let’s review, shall we?  Mandarin has the rings, so us fanboys can breathe a sigh of relief for the sake of integrity there.  There’s obviously a lot going on there, but all of it hinges on the absolute destruction of Tony Stark in order for him to rebuild himself.  I feel affirmed in the selection of Shane Black as director after seeing this, even if it’s just a two-minute peek at the film.  The darkness, the scope, the absolute pummeling that Stark is looking to take; it all measures up to what looks to be a film that embraces the dilemma of Stark, which is a man constantly reinventing himself.  I love that this film is beating the shit out of him and I can’t wait to see the inevitable showdown between Iron Man and Mandarin.

If I had one complaint for IRON MAN 2, amongst a few quibbles, it was the super short showdown between Iron Man and Whiplash.  I’m hoping Black will make up for that as he seems to have a slew of awesomeness in store and I’m beyond stoked to see it unfold.  This looks like it has the potential to be the best of the series thus far.

IRON MAN 3, starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Ben Kingsley, Don Cheadle, James Badge Dale, Guy Pearce, and Rebecca Hall is set to rock Tony Stark’s world on May 3, 2013.
