The Good Neighbor: Jonathan Rhys Meyers to star in German thriller remake

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

The 2011 German thriller The Good Neighbor (or Unter Nachbarn) is getting an English-language remake, and Jonathan Rhys Meyers of NBC's Dracula has signed on to star in the film alongside Luke Kleintank of Amazon's The Man in the High Castle.

Stephan Rick, director of the original film, is set to direct the remake, working from a screenplay by Room 104's Rick and Ross Partridge. The story of The Good Neighbor centers on new neighbors David and Robert,

who find themselves bonded by a hit-and-run accident. When the dead girl’s sister shows up to investigate, David, overcome with guilt, wonders if he can find redemption while Robert is determined to bury the past and keep his new friend for himself, no matter the cost.

I haven't seen Unter Nachbarn, but that sounds like the makings of something dark and twisted.

The remake is being produced by Dean Altit and Yulia Zayceva. Kia Jam and Igor Pronin serve as executive producers.
