The Hateful Eight begins filming in January; Weinstein Co to release wide

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

With all of the back and forth over Quentin Tarantino‘s THE HATEFUL EIGHT, ranging from a leaked screenplay to the project being cancelled all the way to a Comic Con promise that it would happen following a live staging of the script, it is a wonder we haven’t gotten whiplash yet. But, following the teaser trailer shown in front of SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR, we know the movie is definitely coming.

The poster and trailer hint that THE HATEFUL EIGHT will be released in 70mm Cinemascope, a widescreen format we rarely see these days and that the film would have a roadshow style release. Now, we know for certain that a much wider audience will get the chance to see Quentin Tarantino‘s latest western.

The LA Times reports that The Weinstein Company will follow the 70mm release of THE HATEFUL EIGHT with a standard 35mm wide release across the country and in international markets. Their story also cements that THE HATEFUL EIGHT will begin filming in January, confirming Tarantino’s promise that filming would take place in early 2015.

With none of the cast officially announced yet, we can only assume some of those involved in the live staging of the script, including Bruce Dern, Kurt Russell, Amber Tamblyn, Michael Madsen, James Remar, Walton Goggins, Zoe Bell, and Samuel L. Jackson, will appear in the film. But you can be damn sure everyone will be anticipating the wide release of THE HATEFUL EIGHT come Fall 2015.
