This summer, not only do we have a sports comedy about pickleball with Apple TV’s The Dink, but Will Ferrell hits the links for the Netflix comedy The Hawk. Ferrell has played a lot of fictional sports figures, including Ricky Bobby in Talladega Nights, Chazz Michael Michaels in Blades of Glory and Jackie Moon in Semi-Pro. Now, Ferrell takes on the world of golf in the upcoming 10-episode Netflix series, The Hawk. Netflix has released the main trailer for The Hawk. You can check out the trailer in the embed above.
The Back Nine
The official logline reads, “Lonnie Hawkins, (Will Ferrell) 2004’s number one golfer, struggles on the back nine of his career to recapture his magic. His body says retire, but his heart says he’s not done yet. His ex-wife and his son Lance, golf’s new golden boy, know he’s through. But with one more major to win to complete golf’s Grand Slam, Lonnie refuses to believe he’s anything other than one stroke away from the greatest comeback in golf history.”
The cast includes Will Ferrell, Molly Shannon, Jimmy Tatro, Fortune Feimster, Luke Wilson, Chris Parnell, Katelyn Tarver and David Hornsby. The executive producers on the show include Will Ferrell, Jessica Elbaum and Alix Taylor for Gloria Sanchez Productions.
