The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies hits Blu-ray on March 24th

For those of you looking to complete your trilogy at home, Warner Bros has officially announced the release of THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES is slated to hit the premium format alongside DVD and Digital HD on March 24th. Outside of the inevitable deluxe edition closer to Christmas. this will be the final Middle-Earth film from Peter Jackson to debut on home video.

THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES will be released on Blu-ray 3D Combo Pack for $44.95, Blu-ray Combo Pack for $44.95 and 2-disc DVD Special Edition for $28.98. All three versions will come packaged with the following special features:

·    Recruiting the Five Armies

·    Completing Middle-earth

·    The Last Goodbye: Behind the Scenes

·    The Last Goodbye Music Video

·    New Zealand: Home of Middle-earth, Part 3

While many fans were disappointed with the new trilogy, THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES was a satisfying conclusion to the films that seemed to balance everything that made THE LORD OF THE RINGS so good. Epic battles, memorable characters, and beautiful New Zealand scenery abound alongside an enhanced plot featuring further characters and storylines not in the original novel.

Much like THE LORD OF THE RINGS, I am interested to watch all three of THE HOBBIT films in a row to see how well the story flows over the over six hour run-time. Maybe in the comfort of your home theater it may be a different experience than spread over three viewings, three years apart at the cinema.
