The Last Drive-In: Joe Bob Briggs welcomes guest Anna Biller on new special

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Last month, the Shudder streaming service announced that they would be airing a new Joe Bob Briggs double feature event on February 12th, a Valentine's Day-themed edition of The Last Drive-In that will be called Joe Bob Put a Spell on You. Now it has been revealed that Joe Bob and Darcy the Mail Girl are going to be joined on this special by guest Anna Biller… which pretty much gives away that Biller's film The Love Witch is going to be one of the two movies shown during Joe Bob Put a Spell on You.

Joe Bob Put a Spell on You will premiere on the Shudder TV feed at 9pm Eastern on Friday, February 12th. It will also be available to watch on demand as of Sunday, February 14th.

Get ready to sidestep Cupid’s arrow, devour your pity chocolate, and discover the horror of Valentine’s Day with the world’s foremost drive-in movie-critic-turned-love-guru Joe Bob Briggs. Joe Bob, Darcy, and special guest Anna Biller (Viva, The Love Witch) will explore the lost art of romantic necromancy with a double-feature all about love, lust, and gore guaranteed to boost your heart rate!

Joe Bob says,

We found a holiday we haven't ruined yet. There's a remarkable amount of horror fare centered around the hearts-and-flowers season. Plus Anna Biller may be the world's foremost authority on the difference between what men mean when they talk about love and what women mean when they talk about love. There are dark aspects to Valentine's Day, and we found all of them!"

Biller not only wrote, produced, and directed The Love Witch, she also composed the score, edited the film, and handled the production design, art direction, set decoration, and costume design. The film centers on

a modern-day witch who uses spells and magic to get men to fall in love with her, with deadly consequences.

There has been some speculation that the other movie in the double feature may be the Shudder Original Hunted. Directed by Vincent Paronnaud, that one has the following synopsis:

A modern and radical take on the Little Red Riding Hood fable, Hunted is an exhilarating, transcendent, and frequently brutal survival tale that elevates itself with the power of myth and magic, while still holding an exacting mirror to present-day society.

We'll have to wait and see if this really is a double feature of The Love Witch and Hunted. Either way, we're definitely going to get to see Joe Bob and Darcy have a chat with Anna Biller.
