The Littlest Hobo is a classic Canadian TV series which revolves around an extremely intelligent German Shepherd who wanders from town to town, helping people in need, solving murders, and foiling Soviet plots, before heading off by himself at the end of each episode. It was a little bizarre, but just wait until you wear who’s bringing it back. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are set to develop a reboot of The Littlest Hobo for Crave. I can’t say I saw that coming.
The Littlest Hobo Reboot
“The Littlest Hobo was a foundational show of our childhood. We are thrilled to have the honor of bringing it back for a new generation alongside our partners at Crave. And though the hobo may be little, we promise big things to come. That doesn’t mean the dog will be huge like Clifford. The hobo will still be little. But the adventures will be Big,” Rogen and Goldberg said in a statement.
The show was certainly a low-budget affair and often a little cheesy, but it holds a special place in the hearts of many Canadians who grew up with it. There are also some recognizable faces who turn up for episodes, including Leslie Nielsen, Abe Vigoda, DeForest Kelley, John Ireland, Ray Walston, Saul Rubinek, Michael Ironside, and even a young Mike Myers in one of his first roles.
Although most are familiar with the series which aired from 1979-1985, that wasn’t where The Littlest Hobo began. It originated with the 1958 movie of the same name, which featured the iconic pup helping a lamb to escape the slaughterhouse. The first TV series based on the movie aired from 1963 to 1965, so the ’80s series is actually the second revival.
The Studio Season 2
Rogen has been filming the second season of The Studio for Apple TV. He co-created the series and also stars as the newly appointed head of a floundering film production company.
“We’re thrilled to be making a second season of ‘The Studio.’ We’re looking forward to taking the lived experience of making season one and immediately putting it into season two, then repeating that loop for ten more seasons,” said creators and executive producers Rogen and Evan Goldberg when the series was renewed. “And, we’re excited to keep all our industry friends and colleagues guessing as to when one of their personal stories will stream on Apple TV+.“
