International trailer #3 wants to make The Meg bleed

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

"I wanna make this thing bleed."

The promos for the upcoming giant shark vs Jason Statham flick THE MEG have been a delight. Like most of you out there, I dig a solid giant goddamn killer shark motion picture and so I'm counting down the days till I can see this particular one from the comfort of my local multiplex.

The film made our recent Top 10 Genre Flicks to See in Summer 2018 list, and today we have an all-new Official International Trailer, which contains tons of new footage. You can check out the new bout of insanity below, which features Statham finding seemingly endless ways to say "I'm not going fishing for this giant goddamn shark" in increasingly badass ways… but as we all know from the rest of the trailer, he eventually says "Yes." So I guess the powers that be make him an offer he can't refuse. We'll find out later this summer.

Directed by Jon Turteltaub from a screenplay by Dean Georgaris, Jon Hoeber, and Erich Hoeber (based on author Steve Alten's 1997 novel Meg), THE MEG tells the following story:

A deep-sea submersible — part of an international undersea observation program — has been attacked by a massive creature, previously thought to be extinct, and now lies disabled at the bottom of the deepest trench in the Pacific… with its crew trapped inside. With time running out, expert deep-sea rescue diver Jonas Taylor is recruited by a visionary Chinese oceanographer, against the wishes of his daughter Suyin, to save the crew — and the ocean itself — from this unstoppable threat: a pre-historic 75-foot-long shark known as the Megalodon. What no one could have imagined is that, years before, Taylor had encountered this same terrifying creature. Now, teamed with Suyin, he must confront his fears and risk his own life to save everyone trapped below… bringing him face to face once more with the greatest and largest predator of all time.

Jason Statham stars with Rainn Wilson, Winston Chao, Li Bingbing, Ruby Rose, Page Kennedy, Jessica McNamee, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, Robert Taylor, Cliff Curtis, Shuya Sophia Cai, and Masi Oka. THE MEG swims into theatres on August 10th.

OH, HELL THE F*CK NO, I'M NEVER GOING SWIMMING AGAIN would have been a fitting alternate title for this film.
