After saying he’s retiring from action thriller filmmaking on three separate occasions, Liam Neeson is still doing wonders for the genre by defying the limits of his age and showing other actors how it’s done. Today, Samuel Goldwyn Films is proud to present a trailer for The Mongoose. This upcoming action thriller finds Neeson behind the wheel of a 1965 Shelby Cobra GT350 to evade capture after being accused of a crime he didn’t commit. Buckle up, because Neeson is ready to take audiences on a wild ride!
Neeson gets behind the wheel of another action thriller
Directed by stunt coordinator Mark Vanselow (The Naked Gun, The Ice Road, Honest Thief), based on a script by Thompson Evans (Buried in Barstow, Hit List, Reckoning), the logline for The Mongoose reads:
“Accused of a crime he didn’t commit, and with nothing to lose, a war hero (Liam Neeson) leads law enforcement on a cross-country car chase with the help of his brothers in arms and a sympathetic public rooting for his getaway.”
The Mongoose looks like a wild ride
In today’s trailer for The Mongoose, Ryan ‘Fang’ Flanagan (Neeson) pays his ex-wife’s lover an unexpected visit, hoping to teach the dirtbag a lesson about hitting women. When their scrap turns deadly, Ryan’s PTSD kicks into overdrive, and he steals a sweet ride, then goes on the run, refusing to be captured by any means necessary. With his ex, Tara (Marisa Tomei), watching his back, and his friend Tanker (Ving Rhames) being his “eye in the sky,” Ryan drives like a bat out of hell to keep Major Walter Pope (Michael Chiklis) from dragging him away to prison. Can Ryan prove his innocence while ripping through the streets in a stolen vehicle? Is he making more trouble for himself by trashing cop cars and putting people in the hospital instead of explaining himself? I have so many questions about Ryan’s plan.
I’m over the moon about Liam Neeson’s refusal to stop making action thrillers. He’s become a staple of the genre over the past few decades, and it’s clear that he’s still more than capable of delivering the goods. I’m looking forward to The Mongoose and hope others are too.
The Mongoose is not yet rated, but the film will only be released in theaters on October 30, 2026.
