The motion poster for the Sam Raimi produced The Possession is creepy as hell

There are few things creepier than possessed children. It must come from the fact that kids are more innocent than adults so when they are put into situations that force them to act against that innocence, it disturbs us. THE EXORCIST capitalized on that notion and to great effect. There have been countless films since that have failed to live up to that bar set so high by William Friedkin.

THE POSSESSION is the next film that will attempt to live up to the legacy of THE EXORCIST. Directed by Ole Bornedal, the film stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Kyra Sedgwick.

Plot: A young girl buys an antique box at a yard sale, unaware that inside the collectible lives a malicious ancient spirit. The girl’s father teams with his ex-wife to find a way to end the curse upon their child.

The trailer is creepy on its own and this new motion poster captures that uneasy feeling perfectly. Check it out below.

THE POSSESSION will creep into theaters on August 31st.
