The MPAA has given an R-rating to the director’s cut of Batman v Superman

DEADPOOL has shown that you can release an R-rated superhero film in theaters and still bring in a lot of money, and that's probably the one thing that studios will take away from this experience. The so-called "Deadpool effect" will likely see studios taking a few more risks with how far these types of films can go and our first glimpse at this may arrive with the "Ultimate Cut" of Zack Snyder's upcoming BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE.

Stitch Kingdom (via Batman News) spotted an interesting tidbit in the most recent bulletin from the Motion Picture Association of America. In it, the MPAA released a new rating for BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE's inevitable home-media release and surprise, it's rated R for “sequences of violence.” With the upcoming PG-13 rated theatrical cut apparently clocking in at two and a half hours, it's likely that Zack Snyder had to trim a few sequences down. We don't know how much longer this "Ultimate Cut" will be or what it will contain, but based on this new rating, it's likely that the action will be a little more hard-hitting than the version we'll be watching in a little over a month. Should be interesting to see, so long as you're not expecting DEADPOOL levels of violence.
