According to The Wrap, Universal's upcoming THE MUMMY reboot will bring a new vision to the classic monster, just without director Len Wiseman (who was originally attached). Those of you looking forward to the new take on the film, have no worries because the project is "still moving full-speed ahead", says the site. Apparently what ultimately caused Wiseman to leave the film was because of scheduling issues.
Producers Sean Daniels, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci will begin searching for a new director immediately, so don't be surprised if we hit you folks with that news very soon. Jon Spaihts wrote the script, which aims to reinvent the MUMMY series, which grossed $1.25 billion over the course of three films.
Details on the plot are slim but previously Wiseman indicated that Kurtzman and Orci were envisioning a darker, scarier take on the MUMMY story that draws inspiration from Michael Crichton's novels, who grounded fantastical tales in modern-day science. I'm very much looking forward to seeing how this one turns out — especially if it's more of a horror film this time around. We'll keep you guys posted on this one!
