The Munsters: Rob Zombie confirms horror sitcom adaptation his next film

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Yeeeaaahhhh!!! So this is exciting! After much speculation and rumors, rocker-turned-filmmaker Rob Zombie (House of 1,000 Corpses, Halloween remake) has officially confirmed – via a post on his personal Instagram account – that he is indeed directing the upcoming feature film adaptation of the kitsch horror sitcom The Munsters, with the director stating:

Attention Boils and Ghouls! ????The rumors are true! ?? My next film project will be the one I’ve been chasing for 20 years! THE MUNSTERS! ???????????????? Stay tuned for exciting details as things progress! ??#robzombie #themunsters #universalstudios

Now, Zombie's enthusiasm for the material shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone, seeing as how one of his biggest solo hits was "Dragula" from 1998's Hellbilly Deluxe, which is literally about The Munsters' car, called The Dragula!

Meanwhile, no official release or start date, as well as no casting as of yet (but it would be surprising if his wife Sherri Moon Zombie doesn't land some role in it, whether as the Vampire matriarch Lily Munster, or the "plain looking" non-monster Munster Marilyn, or someone else.) But we'll keep you updated!

So what do you guys think? Fans of Rob Zombie or The Munsters? If so, looking forward to the new film? Either way, sound off below!
