The newest teaser for The X-Files asks if you are ready; new cast added

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

It is pretty amazing how much excitement THE X-FILES still generates. For fans like me, seeing even mere seconds of David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson reprising their iconic roles is enough to geek out over. We have seen one teaser already that was devoid of dialogue, but this new TV spot gives us the first exchange between the two FBI agents since their last movie together.

The first half of the spot is identical to the previous teaser, but then we get Mulder asking his partner if she is ready for what comes next. Scully's response is appropriate for the mood and tone of the epic scifi series. While we know that Joel McHale, The Americans' Annet Mahendru, and Silicon Valley's Kumail Nanjiani have joined the cast along with the return of The Lone Gunmen from the original series, another pair of new actors have joined the limited six episode event series.

The Flash's Robbie Amell and Six Feet Under's Lauren Ambrose have joined the series as a pair of FBI agents. Their appearance, a dark haired guy and red-headed woman, could make for some fun doppleganger moments on the show. The Hollywood Reporter has learned the actors will appear in the fourth episode of the season as Agents Miller and Einstein. No further details were provided as to how they fit into the plot.

I have been waiting for a very long time for THE X-FILES to return to the screen, big or small. I am almost happier it is a series rather than a film since now Chris Carter doesn't have to cram the story into a two hour running time. I just hope that the excitement and hype building for the series doesn't let anyone down.

THE X-FILES returns to FOX on January 24th.
