The Park trailer: kids battle for control of a theme park in post-apocalyptic thriller

Trailer: Shal Ngo’s The Park is about kids battling each other for control of a theme park in a post-apocalyptic world

Writer/director Shal Ngo’s dystopian coming-of-age thriller The Park was clearly made on a low budget, but it also looks like the kind of film that could earn a solid cult following once XYZ Films gives it a VOD release in North America on March 2nd. To see if this post-apocalyptic story about kids going to war with each other is the sort of movie you’d like to check out, take a look at the trailer embedded above.

Set in a world without adults, The Park is “a tale of apocalyptic adventure and survival set within a long-abandoned amusement park”. Here’s the synopsis: When a mysterious virus starts killing all adults, society is left to be governed by children living on borrowed time. After the adult population is wiped out, rival kids battle for control of an abandoned theme park. Danger lurks around every corner, and they must do whatever it takes to survive their hellish Neverland.

The film stars Chloe Guidry, Nhedrick Jabier, Carmina Garay, Carli McIntyre, Laura Coover, Billy Slaughter, Presley Richardson, Evan Soto, Legend Jay Jones, Sean Papajohn, and Makaila Faith Nixon, those cast members making up what a press release describes as “an amazing ensemble of young talent.”

XYZ Films’ James Emanuel Shapiro provided the following statement: “The Park is one of the most provocative genre movies I’ve seen in some time. Shal’s debut is one that makes one take immediate notice. You have to see this movie!

The Park was produced by Natalie Metzger, with Ryan Chanatry, Nick Borenstein, and Matt Miller serving as executive producers.

As Shapiro said, this film is Shal Ngo’s feature directorial debut, but he built up to making a feature by directing multiple short films over the course of twelve years. Ngo has also directed an episode of the Hulu anthology series Bite Size Halloween.
