It’s that time again: the MPAA brainiacs have dished out a new slew of ratings, although only two are of any interest to us…

The Sam Raimi-produced supernatural thriller THE POSSESSION (formerly known as DIBBUK BOX) has finally received the PG-13 it was seeking for months. Perhaps you’ll recall that the flick, which stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Kyra Sedgwick as parents who are attempting to hold off a curse that threatens their daughter, had appealed its original R rating back in November, but the ratings board denied them. The movie was nailed with the R for violence, terror, and disturbing images.

However, according to Box Office Mojo, the Ole Bornedal-produced film is now living in PG-13 heaven, for mature thematic material involving violence and disturbing sequences. Hey, where’d all the violence and terror go?! I suppose we’ll find out on AUGUST 31st.

Meanwhile, the found footage-style superhero drama CHRONICLE has also been slapped with a PG-13, which I suppose is no real surprise. It gets the rating for intense action and violence, thematic material, some language, sexual content and teen drinking. Looks like they squeezed a lot of good stuff in there… Catch CHRONICLE on FEBRUARY 3rd.
