The Raid’s Joe Taslim beams up for Star Trek Beyond

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Another new cast member has been added to STAR TREK BEYOND as THR reports that Joe Taslim (THE RAID) has signed on for the third installment of the rebooted Star Trek franchise. Joe Taslim has worked with STAR TREK BEYOND director Justin Lin once before in FAST & FURIOUS 6 as Jah, one of the villains working underneath Luke Evans' character.

The specifics of Taslim's role are obviously being kept under wraps but THR's source indicates that his role will be a key part opposite Idris Elba's character, which seems to hint that Taslim's character will be working against the Enterprise crew in some fashion. Joe Taslim kicked some serious ass in Gareth Evans' THE RAID, so I would hope that STAR TREK BEYOND makes use of his talents. Joe Taslim's THE RAID co-star Iko Uwais has also lined up a role in a science-fiction film which begins with "Star"; Iko Uwais will appear in STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS in an unspecified role.

Production on STAR TREK BEYOND is currently underway in Vancouver and is set for a July 8, 2016 release.
