Ben Collins and Luke Piortrowski are the writers of the Hellraiser reboot that is going to be released through the Hulu streaming service on October 7th – and with more than a month to go before we have a chance to see that movie, Deadline reports that Collins and Piortrowski are already working on their next genre project. They are scripting, and Euphoria‘s Sydney Sweeney is set to star in, an adaptation of the Madison Lawson novel The Registration.
If you haven’t heard of The Registration before, that may be because the book isn’t even scheduled to reach store shelves until September 27th. Copies are available for pre-order at THIS LINK.
Lawson’s novel (which is her first) has the following description:
You can’t outrun the Registration.
Imagine it’s legal to commit one murder in your lifetime if you Register the victim and accomplish the kill within fourteen days. So when Lynell Mize stands in line to Register the man who abused her as a child, she’s shocked to hear a stranger Register her to be killed. Why would anyone who doesn’t know her squander his one legal murder on her? Desperate to survive the next two weeks, she must find out who wants to kill her and why.
Easier said than done, as Lynell soon discovers that multiple strangers have used their Registration on her. Along the way, she reunites with her estranged husband who is determined to dig up a past Lynell prefers to keep buried. With only days left to live, Lynell is determined to uncover the truth and survive a destiny not of her choosing.
The adaptation of The Registration is set up at Sony Pictures and is being produced by Sweeney through her company Fifty-Fifty Films. Bradley Fuller, who has produced several horror movies as part of Platinum Dunes, is also producing The Registration, through his company Fuller Media Brand. Fuller is one of the producers of the Purge franchise, which has some similarities (“legal crime”) to the concept of The Registration.
In addition to Hellraiser, Collins and Piortrowski have also written Super Dark Times and The Night House.
