The remake won’t die!

Just when you thought you’d heard it all…

According to an article in the NY Times, the Weinstein Brothers, aka the former heads of Miramax, in an agreement with Disney, have been given sequel rights to 15 current franchise or potential franchise projects, including the much rumoured remake of HALLOWEEN.

Now, keep in mind that the agreement isn’t set in stone just yet, and sources have been told to keep hush-hush around the matter until a finalized agreement. But still, can this get any worse? Ther series hasn’t recovered since Part 5, and already, there’s another sequel in the series on the horizon (originally titled HALL9WEEN and HALLOWEEN: BLOOD LINE, they’ve now settled on HALLOWEEN: RETRIBUTION). And sure, John Carpenter and Debra Hill are given writing credits, but does that mean anything at this point other than a marketing ploy? Jeez, and you thought remakes of THE HITCHER and EVIL DEAD were bad enough…

If you’re feeling brave, click here for the long winded article, but believe me, HALLOWEEN does pop up in there.
