It’s not bad being a fantasy genre fan right now. The much-anticipated Game of Thrones series House of the Dragon just made its debut on HBO. And soon, the continuation of the Lord of the Rings franchise will be unveiled to the world. The premiere of the new Amazon Prime show, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, is now just days away. And Amazon has now given us a new look with the release of a new trailer for the series.

The timeline in this series will focus on the Second Age of Middle-earth, set thousands of years before The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings books. This expanded look will give insight into how the great powers were forged and how kingdoms had come to rise and fall. There is a re-emergence of evil during a time of peace on Middle-earth, and beloved characters from Tolkien’s famous lore test themselves in a call to fate in the face of impending evil.

The trailer features cast members Galadriel (Morfydd Clark), Elrond (Robert Aramayo), High King Gil-galad (Benjamin Walker), and Celebrimbor (Charles Edwards); Harfoots Elanor “Nori” Brandyfoot (Markella Kavenagh) and Largo Brandyfoot (Dylan Smith); The Stranger (Daniel Weyman); Númenóreans Isildur (Maxim Baldry), Eärien (Ema Horvath), Elendil (Lloyd Owen), Pharazôn (Trystan Gravelle), and Queen Regent Míriel (Cynthia Addai-Robinson); Dwarves King Durin III (Peter Mullan), Prince Durin IV (Owain Arthur), and Princess Disa (Sophia Nomvete); Southlanders Halbrand (Charlie Vickers); Bronwyn (Nazanin Boniadi); and Silvan-elf Arondir (Ismael Cruz Córdova).

The release of this trailer comes after the news that Amazon and Cinemark have partnered for a special one-night-only fan event in which select Cinemark theatre locations all over the world will debut the first two episodes of the series on the big screen before it hits streaming. Tickets had just gone on sale and are only available to Cinemark Movie Rewards Members.

Are you excited? What are you looking forward to most in this series?
